Tire Approval

BD Testing applies accredited procedures for snow performance and ice performance testing according to UNECE Regulation R117. BD Testing is a FINAS-accredited testing laboratory (T274), operating in accordance with SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Our scope of accredited services is listed on the FINAS website. These tests confirm that the tire fulfills its type approval requirements.

Ice grip performance

Ice-grip performance testing is carried out according to ISO 19447 and UN ECE R117 (for non-studded tires) and R164 (for studded tires).

The international standard specifies the method for measuring relative ice grip performance index of a candidate tire compared to a reference, under loaded conditions for new tires intended to be used on passenger car on an ice surface.

Snow performance

Snow performance (3PMSF) testing according to UN ECE R117 for car, van, and truck tires. Studded tire requirements follow UN ECE R164.

Indoor and outdoor facilities allow us to test snow performance all year round.

BD Testing is a testing laboratory No. T274 accredited by FINAS Finnish Accreditation Service, accreditation requirement SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2017.

BD Testing is also an approved expert HA-012, approved by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency, TRAFICOM and designated testing service by RDW.
